Thailand Visa Information for Thai Consulate in Vientiane - by Hobo Maps -

Thai visas are obtained from the Thai Consular office in Vientiane at grid code IB211 on THIS MAP and not from the Thailand Embassy which is at a different location.

The Thai Consulate in Vientiane now requires visa applicants to make reservations in advance via the internet – https://www.thaivisavientiane.com/ThaiConsular/ . Using Firefox browser worked good. I applied one month in advance July 2019 and got queue number 20. On the appointment day in August 2019 at 09:00 they only allowed in queue numbers 1 thru 60 at first while all others had to wait outside in the hot sun. Numbers 61 thru 120 were allowed in next and so forth. People with high numbers had to wait more than an hour just get into the compound. Agents outside and inside make photocopies of passport pages and take pass photos at fair prices. Once inside we had a screening by staff to be sure we had all required documents - 2 passport photos and copies of passport pages signed for tourist visas. We next went to a seating area and waited in line for processing. My visit was quick and was given a note telling me to come back the next day to pay and collect passport and to be ready to give an exact address and name of the place where I planned to stay on arrival in Thailand. The next day at 13:30 we were all allowed to enter the compound on arrival and seated but once again people with low queue numbers were called up first while those with higher numbers waited. Nice getting a low queue number by applying well in advance. People with queue numbers higher than 120 would have been wise to arrive around 10:30 the first day and 14:30 the second day to minimize waiting.
