Chiang Khan town image below looking east along the Mekong.

Chiang Khan has tuk tuks roaming around town for local transport and also has a tuk tuk station on Hwy. 201 next to where the songtaew buses have their station for buses going to Loei. There are also songtaew buses going east on Hwy. 211 along the Mekong River but travelers may have to change buses at Ban Trad to get to Pak Chom.

Chiang Khan doesn't have a public central bus station but rather has stations for each company in different places. Most buses head straight south to Loei including slow songtaew buses that have a station on Hwy 201 close to the central area. 35 baht for 1.5 hour trip to Loei in 2017.

Transport Bus Co. has big buses going south from their station on Soi 25 just off Hwy. 201 in the central area. Chiang Khan to Bangkok buses from Transport Co. Bus Station leave at 09:15 & 19:00 per picture below from March 2017

Nakhon Chai has big buses going south to Loei and beyond from their station in Chiang Khan further out on Hwy. 201 at km 381.5. In March 2017 this station didn't have an English sign but it's on the left side as you go south and out of town, a bit north of Big C. Only 35 baht for a nice air con bus to Loei, about the same cost as for the songtaew buses to Loei and much faster.
