The Index below is an alphabetic listing of places on the Huay Xai, Laos Hobo Map together with their grid coordinate positions on the map. The Index is to be used together with the Huay Xai, Laos Hobo Map and is not applicable to other maps or intended for other purposes. This Index is declared to be in the public domain - feel free to copy and print the Index or use it for electronic searches. The Huay Xai Map that uses this index can be seen at hobomaps.com website. The Map is not yet in print form and not currently for sale. Last Update: August 2007 Huay Xai (Huay Sai) is a small town in northern Laos located on the Mekong River across from Chiang Khong, Thailand. The town is a busy transportation hub with a small airport and a border crossing to Thailand. The links to China and Vietnam are opening quickly as new border crossings open and roads improve. A bridge across the Mekong near here is planned. The town has much Mekong river passenger traffic with the cross-river ferries, a vehicle ferry, the slow boats to Pak Beng & Luang Prabang and speedboats (sometimes) to other destinations.
